Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT Recruitment 2024
To be eligible for this recruitment, you must meet the following eligibility criteria –
Age-based Criteria
- Flying Branch: Candidates applying to the Flying Branch should be between 20 and 24 years of age as of January 1, 2025, which means they must have been born between January 2, 2002, and January 1, 2006. However, candidates holding a valid Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) can be up to 26 years old.
- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: For candidates interested in this branch, the age requirement is between 20 and 26 years as of January 1, 2025, which implies they must have been born between January 2, 2000, and January 1, 2006
Educational Qualification
Flying Branch
- Minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level.
- Graduation (three-year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
- BE/B Tech degree (four-year course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
- Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Ground Duty (Technical) Branch
- Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics):
- Minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
- Four-year degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical):
- Minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
- Four-year degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch
- Administration & Logistics: Graduation (three-year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
- Accounts Branch: B.Com degree or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Education: Post-graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and Graduation with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Meteorology: B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or a four-year Graduation in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks.
Selection Process
The selection process for AFCAT 2024 involves a written examination followed by Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing for those who qualify. The final merit list is prepared based on the combined written examination and AFSB testing performance.

AFSB Testing | Stage I: The Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with the Picture Perception and Discussion test, will be conducted on the first day. Stage II: A psychological test will be conducted on Day 1(Evening), and the Group Tests and Interviews will commence after the document check for the next five days. For the Flying Branch: A Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. |

What is the salary of a Flying Officer in AFCAT Recruitment 2024?
Flying Officers will receive a pay scale of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 in pay level 10, along with an MSP of Rs. 15,500.
During the one-year training period, flight cadets will receive a fixed stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month.
