Selection Process
Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) are hired each year through the IBPS PO exam. This exam is officially called IBPS PO/MT CRP XIV 2024, and it is the 14th time it has been held since it started in 2011. The selection process has three stages:
- Online Preliminary Examination: Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Exam based on performance.
- Online Main Examination: Qualifying both sectional and overall cutoffs is necessary to advance to the interview stage.
- Interview: Conducted by participating banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank with IBPS.
The final result is based on combined scores from the Main Exam and Interview. The weightage (ratio) of the IBPS PO Main exam and interview for the final merit list will be 80:20 respectively.
Preliminary Exam Pattern
The IBPS PO preliminary exam is conducted online, with a 20-minute duration for each of its three sections. It includes 100 questions, totaling 100 marks, and features a 0.25 mark deduction for each incorrect answer. for the Main exam, candidates must clear the cut-off in all three sections.

Online Main Exam Pattern
The IBPS PO Main exam is conducted online, consisting of five sections (four objective sections and one descriptive section), with a total of 200 marks for the objective section and 25 marks for the descriptive section, lasting 180 and 30 minutes, respectively. Candidates must clear both the Preliminary and Main exams to qualify for the interview process. There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in both exams, while no penalty is applied for unanswered questions.
