NEST 2024 Merit List
Candidates will be able to view their merit list on the day the results are announced. The NEST test is divided into four sections, each comprising 17 questions. Section 1, the General Section, must be attempted by all candidates. For the remaining subject sections, candidates can choose to attempt as many parts as they wish.
The NEST Merit List 2024 will be compiled using the score from the General Section and the three highest scores from the remaining subject sections. This means that the section in which a candidate receives the lowest score will be excluded from the merit list calculation.
NEST 2024 Tie-Breaking Criteria
In the event of a tie, where two or more candidates earn the same scores in the entrance exam, a tie-breaking procedure is used to ensure fair ranking. The NEST 2024 tie-breaking rules are as follows:
- If two or more candidates have the same total score, the candidate with the higher score in the General Section will be ranked higher.
- If the tie persists, the candidates’ best subject section scores will be compared. The candidate with the higher score in any of the subject sections will be ranked higher.
- If the tie remains, candidates will be assigned the same provisional rank when the NEST 2024 result is announced. The tie will then be broken by comparing the candidates’ class 12th marks during admission/counseling.
- If the tie continues to persist, the younger candidate will be given a higher rank.
