Selection Process of DSSSB Jail Warder Post
The selection process includes a written exam (One-Tier) and a Physical Test –
One-Tier Written Exam
The written exam is objective and lasts for 2 hours. It consists of multiple-choice questions divided into two sections: Section A and Section B.
- Section A covers Aptitude, General Awareness, General Intelligence, Hindi Language, and English Language.
- Section B focuses on the subject relevant to the post as per the required qualifications.
There will be 200 questions in total, with 100 questions from each section, each carrying 1 mark. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
Visually handicapped candidates will receive an additional 40 minutes.
- The exam includes general knowledge, reasoning, and arithmetic questions worth 160 marks and language and comprehension questions worth 40 marks.
Candidates passing the written exam proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standards Test (PST).

You must meet the following criteria –
- Height: more than 170 cm (with category-based relaxation)
- Chest circumference: 81-85 cm (with category-based relaxation)
- Good health and free from any physical defects or deformities.
- Running 1600 meters in 6 minutes
- High jump of 3 feet 9 inches
- Long jump of 13 feet
Candidates who pass the PET/PST must complete document verification before the final appointment.
DSSSB Jail Warder Syllabus
The exam will consist of two sections, Section A and Section B, with 200 objective-type questions (100 per section), each worth 1 mark. For each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks.
The syllabus for the exam includes General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability, Arithmetical and Numerical Ability, Test of Hindi Language and Comprehension, and Test of English Language and Comprehension. The exam is a Tier-One (General) based question paper with 5 sections in one part.
Each section is allotted 40 marks, totaling 200 marks for the paper. The exam lasts 2 hours, so candidates should aim to complete the paper within the given time frame.
